ARE YOUR READY FOR THE MISSION AT HAND?
We live in an era where stealing, looting, murder, cities are tolerated. Where cities are burnt down by fire and foreigners are allowed to devour our land.
Isaiah dealt with the same exact issue in the very first Book of Isaiah, so we have fairly exact blueprint to guide us through our current troubles into calmer waters. This entails you, me and all believers to step up and accept God’s calling-mission at this time. Are YOU ready?
The prophet Isaiah wrote in Chapter one: “YOUR COUNTRY LIES DESOLATE, YOUR CITIES ARE BURNED WITH FIRE, IN YOUR PRESENCE FOREIGNERS DEVOUR YOUR LAND; IT IS DESOLATE, AS OVERTHROWN BY FOREIGNERS" (Isaiah 1:7).
DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR TO THE 2020 RIOTES? n an article published by the National Review, by writer JIM GERAGHTY, August 26, 2020 10:04 AM, Geathty writes, "So far (the first 8 months of the year), the year 2020 has seen riots in Atlanta, Saint Louis, Seattle, New York City, Minneapolis, Chicago, Oakland, Denver, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Trenton, Atlantic City, Boston, Louisville, Bakersfield, Columbus, Dallas, Des Moines, Detroit, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Phoenix, San Jose, and I’m sure I’ve missed lesser-covered violence. Residents of Portland have endured “87 straight nights of protest on the streets of Portland, 23 more arrested Sunday night, nearly 20 riots declared over the past 3 months.”
In our short lifetime, we have seen rioting, looting, and now a mass influx of foreigners. This seems to be very much in line with the state of Judah during Isaiah’s term as Prophet. In Isaiah's lifetime, Judah was subjected to attacks from Israel, Syria, Edson, Philistia, and Assyria. Later she would be captured by Nebuchadnezzar (606-586 B.C.).
A BIT OF CONTEXT
The first six chapters of the book of Isaiah function as an prologue to the entire book introducing the relationship between God and Judah. In the first nine verses of the first chapter of Book of Isaiah, Isaiah begins delivering his message. Staring in v.2 when he calls the heavens and earth as witness to God's indictment. The language used is similar to that found in the announcment of a formal "LEGAL CASE" (Deut. 30:19; 31:28; 32:1).
God's first (legal) charge was that the Israelites were rebellious. Much like America and the West (including many churches) are today. In verse 3, Isaiah highlights the nations ignorance of God's ways and their refusal to adhere to them. And, as a result, their refusal to turn back to God resulted in their suffering which was described as a “beating” or “Stricken" in verse five.
This takes us to todays verse, verse 7, which again says: "Your country lies desolate, your cities are burned with fire, in your presence foreigners devour your land; it is desolate, as overthrown by foreigners" (Isaiah 1:7).
What had happened is that the land of Judah was destroyed and was being overthrown by strangers (v.7). As a result, Judah had become like an abandoned hut in a harvested field (v.8). Simply put, Judah rejected and abandoned God, and God abandoned Judah in the sense that He left Judah to their own devices-void of His (God’s) protection and provision. In whole, these images speak to the relationship between God and Israel. But the story doesn't end there. God is the God of Hope.
In America in 2024 we have seen a mass influx of undocumented illegal alien migrants enter the United States with no government pushback. This is nothing short of an international or global takeover effort to overthrow the existing American political system and general popular for political power, control and gain. I won't harp on this because we are not hopeless. Don't get me wrong. There “is” and “will be” increased suffering in America-much like there was in Judah. But even Judah had hope.
HOPE
The suffering of Israel was not without a glimmer of hope. Despite their rebellion, God would not make them like SODOM and GOMORRAH (v.9). He would not destroy them completely, but would leave a remnant to rebuild the nation. With this in mind, if you ask me, I sense the worst is still to come-yes I said YET to come. And we are wise to prepare on all levels while trusting God to help guide each one of us. But, in the long run, despite America’s waning power, influence and affluence as the worlds currency and superpower, I am confident that the Lord will preserve a remnant of authentic Christian believers to rebuilt the nation in part or in whole. My question to you is simply this: ARE YOU READY FOR THE MISSION AT HAND?
