We often see America as a “Christian”nation with open borders. A nation that welcome in droves of fellow human beings from foreign lands who worship non-Christian, false religions and gods. The reason for America’s being a country established without a “National Religious Identity” was to escape or avoid the tyranny of the government or “king” and his officials, including the formalized arm of the church under the government from ruling the people in the name or “Christianity” or “religion” in general.
The one problem with this is that such a model is predicated on the average Christian carrying their weight and doing their job as salt and light, in protecting and spreading the good news of the gospel message on an individual level. With the advent of the professional church and clergy, most Christians see the job of evangelism, discipleship, teaching and sadly, learning as the job of the church. With so much licensing and professionalism, the average Christian is happy to pay their tithe and demand that the pastoral staff and church staff handling the “Christian church mission stuff” while most in the church enjoy the fruits of God’s blessings in material and recreational forms. As a result, the general American public have grown biblical illiterate, lazy, unmotivated and generally non-interested in seriously growing in or sharing their faith in a world starving for God’s truth and comfort. We live in a world hostile to God’s Word, but starving for the truth of God’s truth through the biblical Scriptures-but we are not equipped in many cases to do anything about it because we choose to be ill-equipped or “get involved” in the game ourselves. The mantra says, “leave it to the church as pastoral staff”. Let’s remember that the church is made up of the body of Christ and not a building.
As a result of God’s blessing America and much of Europe materially and financially, many Christians have become Christian in name only, have left the Christian faith altogether. Many take the religious route, void of seeking of God through Scriptures on a serious level. In other words, many see religious tradition, holding to the sacraments, keeping religious holidays and so-on as the true road to salvation and the real meaning of Christianity. This is polar opposite of what God says it is to be. God is clear that he desires a personal relationship with each one of us through Jesus Christ as found in the Living Word-the biblical Scriptures-and with the Holy Spirit. If that sounds religious, it’s not. It’s simply biblical.
As a result of such thinking, America and Europe have embellished themselves-emphasizing living a life of recreation, comfort, wealth and ease. As a result, we are having less children. After all, children cost money, they take up more of our time, energy, life in general, and and detract from our overall comfort.
As a consequence, we have grown into a more selfish nation and as a people. This is a vast departure from the values of the Great Generation who gave more “of themselves” sacrificially and selflessly so that their children would have a slightly better life in the next generation. The key words are a generation who do without “selflessly” for the next generation. Metaphorically, they planted trees, knowing that they would not live long enough to see the tree grow up-but did so for the good of their children and the next generation.
As a result of having less children, we find a more and more political leaders who have no or low numbers of children. As a consequence, especially for leaders without children, they by default often view the world as stopping with their lineage. In many cases, these same people rule their state, country, continent and part of the world in a way that welcomes people of other faiths or religions that are not Christian. In Exodus 23, we find the Lord’s immigration policy for the Jewish people, and as such, today, the same in principle is true for America and Europe as nations founded on biblical-Christian principles.
What I am about to share with you is politically incorrect according to man’s ways, but biblically accurate as to God’s Word and princples. In Exodus 23, God speaks to Moses, telling him the following regarding their job to slowly drive non Jewish people hostile to the Jewish people and God himself out of the of the Promise Land. Exodus 23:31b picks up with God saying this:
“…for I will give the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you. You shall make NO COVENANT with them and their gods. THEY SHALL NOT DWELL IN YOUR LAND, LEST THEY MAKE YOU SIN AGAINST ME; FOR IF YOU SERVE THEIR GOD’S, it will surely be a snare for you” (Exodus 23:31b-33).
I am not advocating that the U.S. government today drive out foreigners. To be clear, that is not what I am saying. What I am saying is that as Christians, we must get back to biblical literacy and an authentic relationship with God; becoming salt and light to a dying world. Furthermore, if we fail to fulfill the very last words Jesus left us in Matthew 28 (to make disciples of people from and in all nations), we will become vessels of those who worship false god’s. Muslims in particular don’t compromise their beliefs according to democracy. Why should Christians think any different? When are Muslims persecuted or criticized for their intolerance against groups who differ from them morally? It’s not a thing simply because Muslims (not only Islam) does not tolerated it.
Today’s truth is this: If we desert God altogether as a nation without a Christian identity and welcome into American-droves of people from other countries who worship false gods, what will become of America? This the subject of PART 2, so tune it!
