Simply put, while on this earth, we are and always will be subject to human authority. Human authority will ALWAYS be corrupt to one degree or another and cause HURT to other human beings. I think we can all see that this is true at this point.
TODAY I want to a show you through Ecclesiastes chapter 8 that as such, we need to be strong in our faith, take care of our physical health and feed our spiritual growth on a daily basis. The rest is up to God according to His will. I am confident that while He takes us THROUGH the current national and international mess. When we will come out the other end looking nothing like when we entered. And that may just be a very good thing from a biblical, truly spiritual perspective. Let's get started.
LOOKING AT THE BOOK OF ECCLESIASTES CHAPTER 8, King Solomon, the Preacher makes some bold claims. I want to point out SIX of those bold claims that give us clear instruction, wisdom, guidance and a road map of how we can prevail in this wicked time in human history. Let's start with WISDOM.
1) WISDOM from God is good and makes a man's face shine (v1).
2) DO NOT TAKE A STAND IN AN EVIL CAUSE-FOR OR AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT-Even if the government mandates it. This I would assert pertains to societal violence, participation in unjust/unbiblical wars, eating lab grown meat, killing your baby for population control, etc.
3) There is a proper time to act in the face of evil; Don't act too soon and remembe that God is in control of the big picture, not us. BUT, be ready to do the right thing for the right, biblical reasons should that time come (v.6).
4) "...the wise heart will know the proper time and the just way" to handle or act in an ungodly world.
5) And remember, "NO MAN HAS POWER TO RETAIN THE SPIRIT, OR POWER OVER THE DAY OF DEATH". In other words, life is a dress rehearsal, and it's God not us who know or have control over the day that we leave this world in bodily form. The day of death is the day the authentic Christian starts truly living.
6) REMEMBER: Nobody knows what WILL BE as the world unfolds (v.7), the government is going to do whatever they please (v.3). But the whoever keeps God's command and avoids doing evil things is a person with a wise heart and will know the proper time and JUST WAY to ACT according to God's will.
Remember, there is a time and a way for everything despite the trouble that lies on our hearts in the present situation. We don't know what is to be, only God does. In the end, it's true as Solomon stated in verse 9, "ALL THIS I OBSERVED WHILE APLPYING MYHEART TO ALL THAT IS DONE UNDER THE SUN, WHEN MAN HAD POWER OVER MAN TO HIS HURT" (vs.9). Simply put, while on this earth, we are and always will be subject to human authority. Human authority will ALWAYS be corrupt to one degree or another and cause HURT to other human beings. I think we can all see that this is true at this point. As such, let's be strong in our faith, take care of our physical health and feed our spiritual growth on a daily basis. The rest is up to God according to His will. I am confident that while He takes us THROUGH the current national and international mess-we will come out the other end looking nothing like when we entered. And that may just be a very good thing from a biblical, truly spiritual perspective.
Keep the King's Command (ECCLESIASTES 8:1-9)
8 Who is like the wise?
And who knows the interpretation of a thing?
A man's wisdom makes his face shine,
and the hardness of his face is changed.
2 I say: Keep the king's command, because of God's oath to him.[b] 3 Be not hasty to go from his presence. Do not take your stand in an evil cause, for he does whatever he pleases. 4 For the word of the king is supreme, and who may say to him, “What are you doing?” 5 Whoever keeps a command will know no evil thing, and the wise heart will know the proper time and the just way.[c] 6 For there is a time and a way for everything, although man's trouble[d] lies heavy on him.7 For he does not know what is to be, for who can tell him how it will be? 8 No man has power to retain the spirit, or power over the day of death. There is no discharge from war, nor will wickedness deliver those who are given to it. 9 All this I observed while applying my heart to all that is done under the sun, when man had power over man to his hurt."
