We haven't heard much about Israel in the news lately because the news authorities and the authorities in general dictate WHAT they want us to focus on. That being said, I want to focus on a verse in Isaiah which explains what is going on and how it will play out in the long run. Lets' read:
"...but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and now grow weary, they will walk and not be faint" (Isaiah 40:31).
Verse 31 is part of the verses 1-31 as a passage. The words of comfort to Israel conveyed in Isaiah 40 as a whole shift to a challenge to the nations in Isaiah 41:1-7 as God calls the nations to recognize His power, authority, and control over world events. Despite this turn, Isiah 41 supports the words of comfort spoken previously. God's control over world events implicitly emphasizes His ability to bring about the good of His people, Israel.
By dismissing the seemingly evident owner of the nations, it becomes clear that the people of Israel's lives are not left to cruel human regimes but are sustained and guided by the Lord.
With that being said, I am reminded that the attack by Hamas was just that-allowed (not caused) by God. Furthermore, notice how God continues to "sustain" and "guide" Israel through these difficult days? Make no mistake that the Lord is in control of Israel, their war, our current situation in the United States and all world events. Furthermore, make no mistake about our support for Israel being a blessing upon our country, the United States, and all nations that stand with Israel.
"The nation is like a mighty lion; When it is sleeping, no one dares wake it. Whoever blesses Israel will be blessed, And whoever curses Israel will be cursed" (Numbers 24:9).
God empowers Israel to destroy all their enemies. Israel is pictured as a LION, not to be trifled with. Finally in v.9, Ballam quoted Genesis 12:3, Those who bless Israel will be blessed. Those who curse Israel will be cursed.
IN TAKE AWAY: Let's make sure to be praying for Israel each day; make sure that we stand with Israel publicly when asked; and make sure to live our lives, understanding that it is God who empowers Israel to destroy their enemies. In that light, it is God who empowers you and I to overcome our enemies with His Goodness, Love, Justice and Power.
IN CLOSING: While we haven't heard much about Israel in the news lately doesn't mean things are quiet. Let's remember that the news the authorities want us to focus on is often the picture they seek to instill in us. It's the picture the authorities in general dictate: But that doesn't mean that we have to focus on what the world wants us to focus on. Let's make sure to focus on God's Word in whole, starting today with verse in Isaiah which explains what is going on with Israel and the world, and how it will play out in the long run.
