In our lawless culture, it appears that you and I have three general choices as to where we choose to plant our tree, meaning where we choose to live and live out God’s mission calling on our lives. Today I am going to go through those three choices and challenge you to decided which one is best you and your family in light of God and His Word.
All followers of Jesus Christ, despite where you live in this vast world, you have three choice as to where you will live out the upcoming decade which I believe will be very challenging for all citizens, especially Christians. Let’s take a look at the three general choices categorically.
First, as Christian’s we can and stay planted where we currently live. For many, they have a very low interest rate and it would double their mortgage to refinance at much higher interest rate. There are other factors such as aging parents, community and one’s job that play a role into the decision of staying planted where you are at or moving on, but these are the main reasons.
Second, we can move to a more safe and secluded part of the country. I have a number of friends who have moved to the mountains, well beyond the reach of the cities in an effort to gain a level of peace, quiet and safety in their lives. I can’t say I blame them as long as they don’t ignore whatever calling God has for their life, wherever they might choose to live. A lot of people have told me that as long as you are “running to” something and not “running away” from something, it’s OK. My first thought is who said that and what authority does such a statement carry? I think it’s always a bit of both in our current times of pressure and crisis.
Third, we can choose leave the country (i.e. America) altogether. Getting dual citizenship is a wise decision for any person who qualifies for it. In the United States, it is estimated that close to 40% of all American’s qualify for a second citizenship. Some people are afraid of a second citizenship while others don’t want to spend the small amount of money needed to access that citizenship. I say small amount because to buy into a passport is usually hundreds of thousands of dollars while, for those who qualify through citizenship through descent it typically costs 5-10K. Living in another country is a whole other thing and can be really good or really bad. Again, I have some friends who live in places such as Costa Rica or other countries in Central or South America part of the year and others and who have two to three passports at their disposal, allowing them a choice to move to and live in the present or in the future. In the end, all three of these choices be good choices depending on your free choice, what’s best for you and your family, God’s principles and wisdom based on Scripture, and what or if you will fulfill God’s calling-mission, on your life once you get to that new location of being planted.
IN CONCLUSION: We have have free choice as to where we plant our family tree. God knows what we will do, and in some cases will guide us to s specific location inside or perhaps outside our native country. God gives us free choice as to where we decide to go in light of God's principles, the principles found in His Word, in some cases-clearly open doors in addition to other factors. The central point in deciding where you plant your tree is to avoid APATHY and to seek God's direction regarding how you serve him wherever you decide to plant your tree. If there are no other trees (people) around for you to reach, impact and equip for Christ and/or help grow in their faith, you have missed the mark by way of seclusion. That is wrong and God will not honor that. We as Christians have a big mission in the present and an even bigger one ahead of us as things fall apart in the United States and the West in general. As Christians we are to give part of our life in mission to God through Christ, and focus less on recreation and comfort. I promise you that God will honor one-but not the other.
