There are numerous ways in which we can become a citizen or resident in a foreign country. Today, I am gong to show you that the best passport in the world.
Investment in a business or in realestate in a foreign country can allow for you to obtain a passport as “residency” in that country. This does not make you a full-fledged citizen, but it can allow for a path to citizenship. Furthermore, an estimated 40% of all American’s qualify for dual citizenship as decedents of their parents, grandparents or even great their great grandparents. You may want to check that out.
When I want to show you that in terms of citizenship in God’s kingdom, Gentiles actually become one with the people of God and are not simply sewn on like a patch to the Jewish remnant. Biblically speaking, Gentiles along with Jewish believers are made full fledged “FELLOW CITIZENS” of the kingdom of God and equal “MEMBERS” of God’s family. And this is the best eternal passport inside and outside the world, universe and heavenly realm. Let’s take a look at Ephesians chapter 2.
Ephesians 2:29 specifically says, “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,…” Verses 19-22 goes on to say:
“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.”
Here, God stresses Gentile and Jewish unification in the Church: These verses make clear that Gentiles are no longer “ALIENS” (v.19), but as followers of Christ become “FELLOW CITIZENS” with Jewish believers in Jesus. This does not mean that the Gentiles become part of the “commonwealth” of Israel (cf 2:12) but rather that Jews and Gentiles now share a heavenly citizenship in the Church (Philippians 3:20). Likewise, they are members of God’s one family. (Household).
Unlike an earthly passport, the only investment needed if faith in Jesus Christ and has nothing to do with money. God’s kingdom does not work like man’s kingdom. God’s kingdom requires no heritage, investment in a business, or in realestate in a foreign country to allow for you to obtain a heavenly passport in order to obtain citizenship in heaven like the world requires.
The wonderful news is that all humans, from all cultures and backgrounds are welcome into heaven by simply trusting in the Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. And authentic trust in Jesus Christ doesn’t just make you a “resident” but a full-fledged citizen of the kingdom of God and ultimately heaven. When Gentiles become one with the people of God through trusting in Jesus Christ (who I remind you was Jewish), as their Lord and Savior, they are not simply sewn onto or into God’s (Jewish) people like a patch on a coat, but are made “like” Jewish believers who themselves who have become “Completed Jews” through trusting their their faith in Jesus. As such, these Gentiles are made full fledged “FELLOW CITIZENS” of the kingdom of God and equal “MEMBERS” of God’s family. And this is the best eternal passport here on earth and for the heavenly realm. Make sure you have this passport and become a citizen of God. You can do this by authentically placing your faith in Jesus Christ if you have not done so already. I want to leave you with FIVE QUESTIONS to work through. Please write them down and work through them as opposed to simply reading over them:
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
1) WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CITIZEN IN A COUNTRY IN THE WORLD?
2) HOW DOES EARTHLY CITIZENSHIP DIFFER FROM HEAVENLY CITIZENSHIP?
3) ARE GENTILES AND JEWS "EQUAL" AS BELIEVERS?
4) WHAT IS THE SINGLUAR DIFFERENTIATING FACTOR BETWEEN JEWISH BELIEVERS AND GENTILE BELIEVERS?
5) DO YOU PERSONALLY HAVE THIS PASSPORT? (Faith and trust in Jesus Christ)
In closing, let’s take advantage of our heavenly passport as God’s offer citizenship into His kingdom. Whether Gentile or Jew, we have a free offer for that passport. Remember that Gentiles actually become one with the people of God and are not simply sewn on like a patch to the Jewish remnant. Biblically speaking, Gentiles along with Jewish believers are made full fledged “FELLOW CITIZENS” of the kingdom of God and equal “MEMBERS” of God’s family. For our Jewish listeners, please consider faith in Christ as not requiring you to leave or stop being Jewish, but simply becoming a “Completed Jew”. And this is the best eternal passport inside and outside the world, universe and heavenly realm.
