Most of you know that I have worked from home office since 1999. Having worked in an office for many years prior to that, I have gained a unique perspective as to the current state of working remote. This is an important subject because it effects (an will give you a peak into the future of the world at hand for) you, me, our children, grandchildren, and the entire country/world. I just recorded a podcast listing the TOP 6 Reasons as to WHY a large portion of not the majority of workers will NOT return to office buildings. At current, 58% of all Americans work remote at least one day a week. This has created a major-looking commercial-financial crisis that will unfold through or by end of year as this plays out. That by the way is a healthy thing as all makets must rise and fall in order to stay healthy. The bottom line is that the cat is out if the bag and there is no putting it back in. Here is a sample of the PODCAST TRANSCRIPT:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
To apply this biblical wisdom to our modern age, we might say: There is a time to live in the industrial age, and a time to live in the technological age. A time to build offices and a time to tear them down or reduce them. A time to come into an office to work space and a time to work independently from home or offsite. A time for companies to buy your time and a time for companies to buy your productivity. A time for people to be corralled, and a time for people to be free. That is the “NSG” version meaning the “New Stevie G” version to add some humor.
So...Why Are People Not Coming Back To The Office? A strong case as to why Millennials and Gen-Zers are not coming back to the office. In short:
1. NUMBER ONE: As the economy shrinks, which it is, there will be a smaller overall market for office space. If for no other reason, once existing commercial properties begin to lesson in quantityt or use age they will in some cases owners will repurpose them for things such as housing or other uses. American's are creative self-starters, so I expect to see all kinds of neat new creations out of existing office space not being used as traditional office space. As a result, that office space won’t even be on the market to begin with. That’s number one.
2. NUMBER TWO: Millennials and Gen Z aren’t interested in coming into the office to begin with. There is not much more to be said about that outside of the fact that the younger generation were born into and grew up on technology, and really don’t really care for the confines of the four walls of a an office space. It simply makes no sense within in the framework of the world they were born into and grew up in….(continued on podcast)
