YOU DECIDE FOR YOURSELF:
“But Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.” (Matthew 22:29).
Jesus flat out told the Pharisees, “you are wrong because you don’t know the Scriptures or the power of God”. That’s pretty direct and offensive if you ask me. But it wasn’t disrespectful because it was the solid truth. Today, one said is rude, offensive, burns down cities, curses the authorities and in some cases murders police and civilians-yet much of society embraces such “directness” as good, right, just, and biblical in some cases. When murder, rape, arson and breaking of the law is confronted in “word” in critical evaluation, it’s considered illegal and must be censored in many cases.
How did we get here? Because the United States and much of the West have made Jesus out to be a soft man who just loved people, but was never direct and rude. Most have never have read their Bibles-at least not lately, because nothing can be further from the truth.
In 2023, we have become a soft nation in America. If one speaks “directly” it is taken as offensive and rude. If the truth is spoken, it’s is considered politically incorrect. If one speaks with the authority of God according to His word, it might be handled as illegal and intolerant.
The fact is that we don’t have to be rude in our approach to others, but let’s not confuse “RUDE” with “DIRECT” and take “DIRECTNESS” as being intolerant. If America Christians continue down the road to ultimate softness…America will be trampled on by other world powers. I’m sorry if that seems offensive. The bottom line is that being direct in a truthful way is like SALT. Salt burns when it comes into contact with an open wound-but it brings healing. Salt adds flavor to a bland meal. Salt is used to preserve meat for prolonged periods of time. Simply put-salt is powerful. Salt was created by God for very specific reasons. In the end, as Christians…“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet” (Matthew 5:13).
