“HOW CHRISTIANS FEEL IN TODAY’S WORLD”
With the murder of six innocent children and three adults in a Christian school in Tennessee, there is no doubt this event encapsulates a larger sediment by a portion of society, not only from some in the transgender community, but also the population at large. Some from other religions, and many non-Christians who do not want to hear that their religious beliefs, sexual behavior, material passion and desire for unlimited power are sinful ways of living and wrong. In truth, we as Christians do not make their sins wrong, it is God himself who declares what is good from bad and right from wrong. We are simply the messenger for this time in history. This is how I believe most of us as believers in Jesus Christ feel at times in our modern world.
- WE FEEL DESPISED.
- WE FEEL REJECTED BY MEN.
- WE EXPERIENCE SORROWS IN THIS LIFE.
- WE ARE VERY ACQUAINTED WITH GRIEF IN THIS WORLD.
- THOSE WHO REJECT JESUS CHRIST HIDE THEIR FACES FROM US (WE MAY FEEL REJECTED) AS THEY ARE DESPISED-KNOWING THEIR WAYS ARE WRONG.
- WHEN WE SIN, WE HIDE OUR FACES WHEN WE FAIL TO ESTEEM JESUS. WE TOO ARE NOT PERFECT.
THIS IS WHY:
- FIRST: Jesus was despised first, before we are despised.
- SECOND: Jesus was rejected by man king before we were and are rejected by carnal mankind.
- THIRD: Jesus, in human form was a man of suffering and familiar with pain. If we take up our Cross, we too must expect to feel and experience such sorrow and pain at times.
- FOURTH: It was the “human race” who first rejected Jesus and as such, even you and I at one time, hid our face from and held Jesus before we decided to trust in and follow Him authentically.
- FIFTH: The good news finally is that Jesus took up our pain and bore our suffering despite our naughty, sinful behavior.
IN CONCLUSION: Jesus the Servant was despised and rejected. This explains why we experience this as reflections of Jesus living through us in and to a lost world. Isaiah lived more than 400 years before the birth of Christ. As such, Jesus, as a “Man of sorrows”, would be the “coming One” who knew (from eternity) better than anyone else the havoc that sin would and that still today, brings into human life. It is because He is a “man of sorrows” that He is able to relate to us on a human level and is able to comfort those who experience sorrow on earth. Isaiah says, “He was borne”, meaning the Savior Jesus came to suffer and die for the sins of others (53:6; 11). Sorrows and sickness refer to the consequences of sin.
When when we see things on the news and experience things in our every day lives that bring us sorrow, we have a choice to make. We can wallow in our sorrows, or turn to Jesus and find joy and peace, knowing that this is a temporary thing both here on earth and certainly in eternity with Christ. Even with the murder of six innocent children and three adults in a Christian school in Tennessee, there is no doubt that this encapsulates a larger sediment by a portion of society that despise us as Christ followers. It is our job to not run and hide, but to be bold through the power of the Holy Spirit using the Word of God as we proclaim the love and the ways of God. I know-when try to explain to the world that we are not the “Message” only the “messenger”, the world often don’t listen. In the end, there is much still be be joyful about. We have our family, friends, and a God at the helm, that no person, no power, no government, and not even the devil himself can take down. In the end, WE WIN if we stay the course, seek God through prayer and His Word daily, enjoy authentic Christian fellowship, and find joy in the small things, not just the large elaborate things of this world. One last thing: The world apart from Christ are miserable. They put on a good game face, but in truth, they are miserable. Why? Because they cannot be satisfied in their pleasure, with all their mis-used wealth and power. We have JOY, PEACE and TRUE MEANING, FULFILLMENT and PURPOSE in life-if we will only see that all people suffer, and all people on some level are despised. But not all people have Christ, and it’s our job to show them the best and perfect, all good and fulfilling way to live today for a perfect eternal life. This is truly the secret of life.
It seems to me that this is the way many Christians feel today. Make it a WONDERFUL day. Be joyful and know you are loved and appreciated!-Steven
Isaiah 53:3-4
“He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
ESV SAYS IT THIS WAY: “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.”
